One hundred grand seems like a lot,,,
But that's still way cheaper than training a new pilot from scratch.

Heck gentlemen,,,
Back in 1974 I was a lowly USAF E-5,,,
But I was in a very small career field with terrible assignments.

My re-enlistment bonus (lump sum after taxes) for four more years was $10,280.00,,,
Back then that was the equivalent of 2 years salary.

Since Viet Nam was over by then,,,
It was a no-brainer for me.

They have a V-22 in the pic. $100,000 to pilot one of those? Ummm No...

You do see they are walking away from it in one piece?

Hell, I'll get on it and go fer a ride! Looks like either way it would be fun as hell.

I was at an airshow one weekend in Wichita. It was windy as hell. The Army Golden Knights were upstairs and you could see them chunkin streamers out the plane about two miles south of the airport. The streamers landed about two miles north of the airport. They cancelled their jump. The announcer said they all had to be tied down to the aircraft because they were so nervous. Not about the jump though, you see none of them have ever landed in an airplane.
