40 s&w reload question

I have a glock 27 and was at a gun show and picked up 160gr 40 bullets for a reload and I cant find any info for the powder load for this weight I have looked thru numerous books and the internet. Has any one ever done it and what was your powder load I am using 231 powder

Need more info. Jacket, brand, type (i.e.: hp, fmj, rn, fn, etc.)

load it as if it was 180 grain and you should be good.

160gr is an odd weight for 40 (.400) bullets. They are typically 135, 155, 165, or 180 grains...

I agree I thought about loading as if it was a 165 the bullets are tc and copper coated not full lead and i was going to use red dot but changing to 231

Stay within this data and you should be fine. Beggin with starting loads and work your way up.

Yes but it's 20 grains HEAVIER than he is loading, so there should be no overload problems if he starts with the 180 data.

while it is 20 grains heavier, that makes it safe now if it was a 180 grain bullet and you load by 165 standard you may have a problem. that and it is a Glock, which means it is not a fully supported chamber so the hotter you load them the bigger the chance of KABOOM.

well I loaded the bullets at 5.9gr of powder and they shot fine I appresiat all the help
