I have been considering getting something that has a little more umph than 5.56 for hunting hogs and maybe deer.

With all of the available cartridges for the AR-15 platform is the 7.62x39 a good choice for reliability, build cost, and factory ammo cost?

I've been looking at 6.8SPC but the ammo costs and build cost have been holding me back.

Any other suggestions for a different caliber or rifle type that is budget friendly?

That ad is a bit confusing. It states 13" barrel in two places and 16" in another place.

I was wondering about the cheap ammo availability for the Grendel.

Aim surplus carries it usually for around 5$ a box. Sportsman's guide has a 500 round pack for around 150$ that is scheduled to be back in stock in the beginning of July.
