If this story is 100% accurate, then the dead victim is still partly to blame for his death. Why hasn't common sense taught enough people to not make sudden movements when confronted by an officer?

I'm sure there is tons of case law for them to use to sort it out, but that won't stop the media from finding a way to somehow blame guns too.

I can hear it now... "well, guns were banned, then the officers wouldn't be in fear of the robber having a gun and so they wouldn't have shot him."

Well, I'm gonna say, based on previous experience, that it isn't gonna be the guns that wind up with all the blame here.

I'd say the family has a civil action against the caller.

As to why the kid reached for his waistband? Who knows. Baggy pants falling down?

I fault the caller for saying that those who robbed him were armed, but he didn't pull the trigger. The suspect ran from police and then reached for his waistband, not the brightest move.
