Only took 4 hours including two trips to the gun store, but my father and my ARs are done. Bent one roll pin was one trip and couldn't find my castle nut wrench was the other. The spring and detent are a pain in the ass on the rear pin. They either fall out or the spring gets cut apart by the end plate. I finally got the rhythm needed to do at the end, but I went through a lot of springs and detents.

Well, that settles it. Another addict. What are you going to build next? You know you are already thinking about it. 😎

My son (17) bought a new FX Impact air rifle; loaning him the scope for now. These things can hit 3” targets at 350ish yards.

Those FX rifles are sweet. Ted's Holdover on Youtube makes some pretty wild shots with them. Definitely on my list of guns to buy one day.

Old School Cobra. Pretty rough shape, not sure it has ever been cleaned. I plan to strip it down, (if'n's I am smart enough) drop it in a sonic vibration cleaning tub, clean it up, and see if I can make this old dude work a little more smoothly. Anyone have a good recommendation what to soak this in - I am thinking Simple Green yes/no - something better?
I always follow this write up and drop everything in a bowl of simple green. Agitate everything with a brush, clean, deburr/ polish, and reassemble with appropriate lube. Usually have a Wilson combat spring kit handy to install too.
