Gran Torino was initially about and set in the Hmong communities in the Twin Cities, Minnesota. However, the setting was moved to greater Detroit as Michigan gave preferential tax treatment to film companies if they filmed there.

My wife filmed some last year in a movie with Ben Affleck and Rachel Weisz? Or whatever her name is... they were here in Bartlesville for quite some time. Ben's wife, that very masculine-looking thing was with him, as well. My wife met the Weisz woman and said she was very nice. She wasn't in any scenes with her, though.
