Looking at replacing the Delta I had back in CA that I really liked. Have no idea where it is or even if it made it to OK during our move. Want another machine for my shop. Only looking at benchtop models. Here's the three I have it down to, unless you have another recommendation. These are about the top of my price point too. WIll jsut be used for general use for metal/steel or other things that need a hole.

What's your opinion on these or what do you have that you like? Thanks for the advise.

I have a grizzly, not sure of the model. It's an older one. It does what I need for farm repair/ fabrication.
The low speed could be a little lower in my opinion. I haven't looked at what the speeds are.
My brother in law mounted a board on it, I'd like to have a way to mount a vise but the board is handy for collecting clutter.

u could find a good one at most any pawn shop ,way cheaper than new, slow speeds needed for steel drilling, better to be too slow than too fast...variable speed will be expensive,,and hard to fix,and it will need a certain specific belt,if its the kind that uses variable size pulley's,, now some variable speed drill press's, use electronic control to vary the speed, works ok ,,some dont have much power at low speeds, and then how do u fix that electronics when it goes bad ??,, just go with one with 2 or 3 pulleys, and get some spare V-belts..make sure u can swing the table out of the way and use the base for drilling something big.bolt it down to a work table or 3 foot long 2x6's, or some steel plate..might want to get two,, one bolted on a table,, other one for portable use..drilling 1/4 steel or thicker by hand can be difficult unless you know how to thin the web in a drill bit,,
