So, did anyone decide to change their plans about immediately bugging out in a SHTF situation while they were fleeing or after fleeing the severe weather last night?

That was just a taste of the pandemonium that would occur.

Chalk it up as a learning experience.

It just confirmed my bug-in plans. My neighbor tried to bug out to another town at the last minute, and ran right into another storm.

Bugging out requires a destination, and early decision making just like hurricane evacuation.

This little bout with the recent storms has convinced me that I'm getting a storm shelter. Then I need to decide what I want and how much I want to keep inside it.

While watching the storm coverage, I couldn't believe it when I heard the guys say "if you can't get underground, do south and get away."
And at 5:00 PM on a workday.

I'm guessing that these guys had never been on I44 at 5:00PM on a workday, let alone on a day of heavy rain and storms with everyone and their brother trying to head south!!!!

Even on good afternoons and evenings, it is gridlock!!!

One thing was for certain is that most folks only know ONE way out of town.

This.

I'm not even from the city, and this country boy hates being in the city. But when I meet with clients up there and know I'm going to be hitting 5PM traffic leaving, I take the surface streets out.

I dunno why city folk are afraid of leaving the highways.

I had a buddy trying to get out of town last night, as he lives here but was in okc when the roads turned into giant parking lots.
He sat there for a few minutes, thought this was stupid, and put his king ranch in 4WD, went to the shoulder/right of way and drove around the bottleneck.
