Executive orders are made to help amend and enforce laws. Once UBCs are in place, an executive order can be placed to amend the law allowing registration as they will simply need to show registration is required to enforce UBCs.

One would hope that Coburn or someone else would insert specific language forbidding registration into the law. It is already law that a registry cannot be created. I mean can an EO just violate the law in order to enforce it?

How would an illegal Executive Order to create a gun registry be handled? The current Justice Department would do nothing. Congress would likewise ignore attempts to impeach if the Democrats hold sway. So legality seems to not matter.

If legality no longer matters, the republic is lost. We are still a nation under the rule of law, at least we are supposed to still be.

In national emergencies, the public seems willing to allow violation of the Bill of Rights. Think about the unlawful internment of U.S. citizens during WWII, Lincoln's suppression of freedom of the press, the current practice of killing U.S. Citizens overseas who are deemed by the President to be terrorists etc. Is it far fetched to imagine a national emergency which the President uses as justification to suspend the law against registration of firearms? We need to be resisting the move to set up the building blocks out of which a registration system would be made

They would not call it a registry, but something else. Like a "national safety database". You know, they'll sart off by saying....this is not a registry. this is just record keeping.
they need some legislation to kick off their 4 year assault on 2A though.
This is what needs to be conveyed to Coburn...that ANYTHING that is passed will be used in the worst possible way to create all sorts of restrictions and databases.
