I'd go with Taurus, honestly.
I've never had any problems with them.
A Taurus Model 65 can't really be beat for just a nice and simple .38 Special.
I had one and it was just super smooth and accurate as all get out.
Now Dan Wesson's are still nice but I personally don't see a need for them.
Now something else to look at it either the Ruger SP101 or GP100.
Those two are excellent revolvers for sure, they are built like a tank and are very accurate.
Also Ruger's LCR is a nice lil' five shot revolver, it's very comfortable in the hands.

Told Ya......ha

Again for a inexpensive shooter for the range or backup stinger
I have two Taurus...an 85ul and an 856
85 ul I had some probs with at first .... it don't like the heavy boolits...after getting down to about a 112gr to 120gr it has been through a couple hundred without a flinch
856 is a ss 6 shot....solid as a rock...I carry it regularly as a stinger with as heavy a +p as I can find
Both are relatively east to shoot out to about 15 yards, theyre made for 5, and that's what theyre job is

You may have less chances of a prob with the dw , but at a cost
So I have to agree with whomever said ..Both....it'll be fun

$500 for the better gun hands down 100% of the time. Is $500 a lot for a new pistol? Am I missing something, all the old men are too cheap in here now.

Of get both so you can shoot the DW while you are wait for the Taurus to get sent back from Brazil.

There's pros and cons to each. I remember reading somewhere that certain DW production years had less than stellar quality control. The company has run into problems in the past. However, if you avoid a lemon, and get a good price, they're superior. I personally have found a lot of their revolvers ugly, but that is preference.

Taurus is a bit cheaper, but has that (in)famous lifetime warranty, and I've heard from many buyers that their revolvers are decent-good quality, and a great buy for the price. I also LOVE the look of their older model 85s, almost as much as older smith J-frames
