I officially retired from my job at OSU,,,
Friday, 08 Jan 2021 was my last day on the job.

It's now the tenth day of my retirement,,,
And I haven't done one worthwhile thing yet.

I'm still in a bit of shock I think,,,
Last Friday I awoke in a panic because I was late for work.

Took about 1 minute to get past that,,,
But it was a few seconds of mental discomfort.

This week will be different though,,,
When I finish my morning surfing I'm going grocery shopping.

Afterwords I'll stop into my favorite restaurant/bar for an afternoon pitcher,,,
Then come home and do my meal prep cooking for the week.

I do have my Mauser es340b all cleaned up and ready to shoot.

If the Wednesday's weather turns out to be what's predicted,,,
I think I'll hit the range with 50 rounds of good ammo,,,
And shoot them at a 100 yard silhouette target.

Nothing rapid fire or too wasteful of ammo,,,
Just some leisurely plinking to see if I can get an actual group.

I'm loving the free leisure time,,,
But I miss the company of my co-workers.

Most people don't know that is a little hard to get used to at first. Jan. 1st of last year was it for me. I was 13 weeks shy of 40 years in a P666 refinery. I was there about 45 years counting the overtime. The crazy thing for me was I was planning on working another 3 or 4 years. I was at a meeting in Dec. of 2019 and a friend ask me if I had looked at the numbers our retirement money was based on. I told him I was thinking about it for a few more years. He told me I should look at the numbers so I did. I was about fed up with the harassment from management and about to talk to a lawyer anyway. So the money looked right and I retired in 3 days. Like everyone says you miss some of the people but, not the job. I'm glad I got out when I did. This morning on the news they were talking about Biden's energy plan will kill the oil industry and cost millions of jobs.

But I miss the company of my co-workers...
I can understand completely; in 2005 I tried to take a one year sabbatical from work. I lived a mile from Galveston Bay and had a sweet Boston Whaler and went fishing every day. I detailed my cars and got caught up on honey-do projects. Four months later I was ready to go back to work. I missed my colleagues and the mental stimulation of working.
At almost 72, I'm getting fired from my current job on May 15th with a reasonable severance package and then I'll file for unemployment.

That's me. I learned along time ago some people live to work and other people work to live.
I guess you could say I am firmly encamped in the later.
