@Camo i believe what you’ve got looking at barrel and sights is actually a Model 23 “the outdoorsman” the target sights and longer barrel were added the original pre model heavy duties to make them suitable hunting handguns. They’re actually relatively uncommon!

I understood it to be an outdoorsman, a dirivitive of the 38/44. Not a revolver guy so I just posted it.

I think this revolver was probably made in 1950
or 51. The patridge front sight was discontinued in ‘52.

To avoid confusion, I should have stated that the patridge sights on Model 1950 Pre-Model
23 revolvers were discontinued in 1952.

What confuses me is the lack of a letter (prefix) in the serial number.
