I am so sorry to hear this and I feel for you.

Wif endured 10 years, watching her Mom slowly fade away, to the point of not being recognized.

I would not go visit, the last 2 years. Because I was recognized and it hurt my Wif intensely that her Mom would recognize me and not know her. A nurse asked me how we got along? Alzheimer patients will be completely lost and see someone they didn't like and snap back to cognizant. (She hated me, I knew it, we worked with it.)

She did not recognize her Mother, any of her kids or grandkids. Her husband was the only one she always knew.

Seeing what she went through and it's effect on family is a fate worse than anything.

Should I ever get a similar diagnosis I will not be down for breakfast. All joking aside I love Grumpy too much to put him through that.

I never liked him as a person, but his movies made it to my own personal library. Unbreakable trilogy, The Fifth Element, Die Hard, Looper, The Sixth Sense, Armageddon, Pulp Fiction, all made my must-watch lists.
