Fake Leupolds

I have been told that some of the lower priced leupolds or made in China, What Is known about that?

Some of their binos and spotting scopes and other non-riflescope items are made in China, the Philippines and possibly a few other locations. Scopes should all be US made/assembled as @JEVapa said, but some components could be foreign sourced.

You can verify any of this just be looking on their website.

Do you have to call or can you look them up online too?

EDIT: NVM - looked at their site and I guess folks need to call.

I had one that I traded for that just didn't look right and so I called them and they said it was a real one. Just never know, the fakes are very well duplicated and it's hard to tell unless you know and handle Leupold's all the time.

A call to leupold says this is a 1968-73 serial number. Im thinking the VX-III wasn’t a figment of imagination at that point.

1998 is the release year for vxIII, so probably not real.

Yeah, but the scope was basically free. The price listed was what the upper was worth. It’s been at least a couple years ago.
