The land we are hunting on opening weekend has shown some impressive bucks on the two trail cams we have out. Unfortunately as the weather has remained dry, two of the ponds that have had the most activity have completely dried up.

I have a stand setup on a dry creekbed. In the springtime this is about a foot deep with water. To my north it leads into a small pond that is surrounded by trees. There is now not a drop of water in sight.

Not to mention the trail cam pics are showing no pattern what so ever to the deer. Guess you could say the rut is on.

I have a picture of one buck that has what appear to be warts all over his back. He has a pretty jacked up rack. Lets call him a 6 pt. 4 on one side and 2 on the other.

Just need the next two weeks to bring cooler temps and some rain.
