Another plug for Bassett? Interesting. Considering those have a single-point attachment compared to the two- and three-point mounts from other companies, is Bassett really all that and a bowl of chili?

True it is a single point, BUT it has hardened pins that fit into the groves on the receiver and it will NOT move.
A true example of the KISS principle.
On mine, detaching and re-attaching the POI will be within 1/2 inch.
And that's on two different rifles (Standard and Scout)
Do a search on Snipers hide, lots of info there.

Mighty fine iron sights going to waste. Is your trigger group non GI (current production) or USGI (older M1a). I have owned several over the years and always like the USGI trigger groups better.

Like some have said here already, shoot it for a while before you make a decision about a trigger job. I have an M1A Scout that has a pretty good trigger as is.
