That old Dodge it basically plate steel though
Yes it is and has that double glass in it that is 1/4" thick with the impenetrable rubber in the middle of the 2 panes.

I was on I240 when an updraft came upon us in that 47 Dodge Truck and my Big Gulp was between me and the door and it started lifting up.
Wife and I rolled up the windows and the truck felt like it was getting light.
Then the hail came..Big ones.
Pummeling all the cars busting out the back glass and windshields getting hammered.
Wife was freaking out. I said Nothing is coming through this glass.

Cars were heading for underpasses but those suckers were hammered to death already..Game over folks.

I kept heading down the road and 3 miles later i was out of it.
Only 1 other car kept going down the highway.
A shiny new black BMW or Mercedes It was beat to death all glass was busted.
Dude in it rolled the side window down and gave me a thumbs up and I gave one back to him.

I did get a broken side glass and 2 dents. One in the drip rail and a small one in the front fender.
Yep it is thick.
I still have the broken side glass.
Does not bother me a bit.

My 57 chevy has broken side glass from father-in-law slamming the door. He did the same thing to my 56 chevy.
I tell people when they get in DO NOT SLAM the door.
They just click shut nicely.
