It's a weird story, but the land they bought and settled in Texas was conceded to Oklahoma before statehood. Grandma and her father were born in the same house on the same land, but in two different states. Greer County TX is a wild story of disputed border land.
Yeah, the Texicans tried to claim that the border should follow the Salt Fork of the Red River, although that border was set in the treaty of the Louisiana Purchase. I guess it makes sense to Texicans, but that's about it.

Yep, Hollis is so far out there, you have to cross the Red River (North Fork) once to get there lol

I’ve posted these before. Only available from the individual historical society’s? Don’t know.

These are big books. Fork in the pic for reference. Encyclopedia sized.
One is one inch thick, the other 1 1/4”.
