I used to know an old boy who flew in the hunter-killer teams. He flew the LOH down low to draw fire, so he was about a half a bubble off plumb to begin with, but man alive, he could tell the hell out of a story. He's the one that taught me "I don't care if your story is BS as long as you tell it well." And he had enough photographic evidence that you could never be sure how much of his stories were true and how much was BS...

One of my friends was a Snoopy Scout gunner in a Loach in Nam. He got out after three crashes and 100% disability used his GI Bill to learn electronics. He worked fixing stuff on contract for the FAA. Ed still lives in Mustang.

Look for a book called "Low Level Hell." It was written by a Loach pilot. He wrote of talking his superiors into allowing them to mount some kind of gun to the side of the bird, and he used the gun a number of times himself.
