hog hunter recommendation

I ordered a hog hunter in 308. It will be here shortly. Now im shopping for glass. Im new to bolt guns and want to shoot out to 800 eventually. I will be hand loading for this, and am not new to rifles. Jus5 hot kuch experience wi4h setting up scopes. Im looking at a vortex diamondback 4-12x40. With a one piece base and q.d. rings. How do I know what rings to get? I want to be able to the the scope off and use the irons if need be. Thanks!

budget is a big factor in deciding which scope to get.

Right now in the 200$ range. Thats why I was looking at the diamond back. My biggest concern is how to know how high of rings to get with a 0moa base.

I know it's over budget but I love the Nikon M308 on my hunting rifle. It has plenty of magnification and exposed turrets. The BDC reticle is very handy. You will need different rings than the AR height ones provided.

Up your budget a little and you can get this Viper which is better than the diamondback.

I do like the vipers better. I might go that route but I want a setup that will clear the irons either in height or length.

LOL that is pretty funny. They gave him everything, even the kitchen sink!
For a $200 budget I'd get a nikon prostaff or a redfield battlezone.
