Didn't they have library police back then to confiscate past due books?
"The library estimated the book’s past due bill at more than $1,700 but decided to waive the fine."
Another article noted the fine was $0.05 per day.
My oldest Daughter is a Librarian. I know she doesn’t like past due or lost books.
Scary library thought, OKC Public library places books in diatomaceous earth when returned. Reason: bedbugs. Enjoy the read!
IF i found that in an estate of my family I would return it just to have the story to tell.
I once forgot a library book in Seattle. I went and purchased a new copy ($42) and took it to them. The late fee was only about $5, but they refused to take the brand new copy....insisting that I owed them $100+ so THEY could buy a new copy. And that was the last time I went to a library in Seattle.
Well crap! Thanks for ruining the future library trip I was planning!
