So if I shoot one, what do you do? Call the county Game Warden..? You don't just take them to any check in station do you.?

Or take it to wildlife dept, they will check it.
It can be skinned but they will ask you the sex. They're are a few license vendors that still issue the tags but not many. I think they might have a list on the departments web site.

If ur gonna mount , do not gut it , freeze it whole.
I've tagged several, calling one of the GW's. They all have the tagging kits in their vehicles.
In Ponca we have an area biologist station at Kaw Lake that will also tag them.
They do not have to be tagged immediatly like a deer, but if its warm and you have to freeze them, be sure and prepare a place for the tag, as the person that issues the tag has to insert the tag.
Proper location is from the eye socket into the inner lip, so stick a knife blade or something in this area, and insert a pencil or something that be removed when insterting the tag.
