-Old 2-cycle outboard exhaust on a foggy morning. Reminds me of being a kid at the lake every weekend. 4-cycles have no soul. I smell that and I'm instantly 8 years old and sitting next to a shaking '73 Merc as we idle out of the marina.
-The smell of rotting leaves on a damp fall day in the deer woods.
-The way a clean river or stream smells.
-Wood smoke from people's chimneys on cold days.
-A oil lamp burning.
-All the smells associated with black powder. Reminds me of dad cleaning his New Englander when I was a kid.
-Smokey dives.
-Danny Tanner
-Cooking just about anything while camping.
-Anything being baked, especially if it's walking into my 84-year-old grandmother's house on the holidays.

I'm on this bandwagon. Combine it with a freshly cut hayfield and you've really got something.
Also on the various automotive-related scent bandwagon.

I too love the smell before a storm.
