Well the title says it all. If I site in my rifle at a middle power lets say 8 and I go to 9 or 7 what happens to my impact? Is it going higher or lower depending if I go up or down in power?
If I site in my scope on 8 power what happens to impact if i zoom in or out?

remains the same. if not then the scope is bad
^^^ This is talking about the center of the cross hairs or dot or whatever reticle you have. The bullet drop lines or what not might change depending on if its a FFP or SFP scope...im sure someone way more knowledgeable than me will be along shortly.
If your shooting the same distance, it wont change....just be able to see it better , or worse...

It's worth checking. I'd sight in, change zoom, put a couple shots down range to see if they stay the same. I had a BSA 8-32x (came on an AR I traded for) that would walk when changing magnification. What's worse, it wouldn't return to the same point.
