sure GI's used to clean their rifles and socks in a helmet of boiling water.
but we live in the day of non-corrosive primers...

I've got a super nice CZ 550 heavy barrel .308... prices for surplus .308 sure are tempting....but no way corrosive ammo is going down the pipe

so who's using corrosive ammo... and do you think it's worth it?

Use it in an AK, in bolt guns too. Now in a CZ SS--I think I would be shooting the good stuff since it is capable of fine accuracy.

I use it in my Mosin Nagants and surplus Mausers. I just use Windex with ammonia immediately after I'm done shooting to clean the rifles.

Considering the price of S and B ammo in both of these calibers as compared to the corrosive surplus, damn right its worth it.

I both have and am using it.
Not that big of a deal.
Just clean it after use.
It doesn't do anything all that fast.
Clean at the range or when you get home.

I usually clean it at the range with a little ammonia/water mix down the tube followed by a dry patch and then an oil patch.
The ammoina nuetralizes the corrosive salts in the primers.

OK... message I'm getting is no big deal in military grade/surplus weapons.

but would you use corrosive ammo in a high grade bolt .308, then apply Windex, chased by oily swab?

has anyone done the live fire test with corrosive round with bullet/powder removed. into a piece of steel.

then apply Windex on one piece, next to a control piece of steel.
to verify Windex neutralize the corrosive primer?

Personally I wouldn't use surplus ammo in a rifle of that grade. If it was the only rifle I had and the only ammo that I could afford to use and use often was the surpuls stuff, then by all means I would use it.

Look at this. It is what your looking for I believe. It is meant to make clean your rifle afterward not avoid the ammo.http://www.surplusrifle.com/reviews2006/alittlesalt/index.asp

They are comparing results to solvents. Good article.

EDIT: errors
