my sks does that when I have the shell deflector installed
My Sig 556 does the same thing but I shoot alot of steel case.....so It dont matter to me.

Tell me about it! That fluted chamber doesnt help any either.... I like the CETME but have had two of them and sold them because they are so hard on the brass. I will stick with my FN FAL
Okay - what do a series of about 1/4" to 3/8" long vertical brass marks on the side of the receiver about 3/4" to 1-1/4" behind the ejection port on an AR-style .308 mean - no visible damage to the brass. Any clues?
You can just see a little of them left in the center of the picture - they were much more visible before I cleaned it after shooting. Could probably have rubbed them the rest of the way off but I didn't want to rub down to bare aluminum and decided they'd eventually come off (or end up with more friends) anyway.

My shooting buddy has a Saiga in 223 and it marks the brass at mid point with a small crease like that as well.. Saiga is just a different AK anyhow...
