Like the title says, it's stuck.

I picked this up last weekend from SSP and I ordered the gas block tool to help with removing the gas plug. However I have tried to remove it using a very large Phillips head screw driver and that didn't work, it wouldn't budge. Now I tried the 1/4" extension on a ratchet and the 1/4" extension just slipped right off inside the plug.

Help!

I need to get this one off so I can do a thorough cleaning and swap out the plug for an adjustable one.

If by "gas block tool" you mean a proper gas screw removal tool specific to the M1 Garand, I'd wait till that came in. If a 1/4" socket can't get the screw started out, then it's really stuck. You might try heating the gas cylinder around the screw with a small butane torch, then give the screw another shot. If that doesn't work, perhaps some Kroil or PB Blaster penetrating oil.

I'm sure you've looked to make sure the screw isn't spot-welded or staked, right?
