McAlester gun range closed permanently

Many of us will miss having an outdoor range to shoot our pistols and rifles. It was a convenient location with inexpensive annual fees ($40) where we had an opportunity to meet fellow shooters and make new friends.

No word on whether there will be an attempt to find property for a new gun range.

Sounds like the gun club may wish to retain counsel. Could be the Nation coming after them for remediation fees incurred.

I wonder if the tribal residents’ drinking water supply runs in close proximity to the berms/backstops? Or is adjoining properties’ slated to be farmed or developed for homes?

Ranges must do lead clean up every now and then so without the entire story.
I can't say this is good or bad.

I remember a range on north end of McAlester, turned north off Electric seems like?? I was a member when I lived there, think it was kind of a dead end road, range was on the west side

that was my first thought, but then i wondered why they'd do that for justification. Couldn't the Nation have just as easily said 'the lease wont be renewed' and been done with it?
