The aren't bad at all. With a lot of other people around shooting rifles I'll put in some surefire earpro and turn the volume on the Sordins all the way up. Kills the blast but you can still hear commands, etc.
With the gel cushions I don't need to double up with my battle comp or SPR/m4 brake. I haven't shot indoors with them yet though.
I double up indoors or if I'm around carbines with very loud brakes. Otherwise I use them with the gel cups and there's more than enough reduction.
Gel ear seals are called 'ear coochies' for a reason.
