My first Knife!!!!

I recently got into knife making and this is the product of my first venture into the art...I still have a long way to go but I am proud of the way this project came out.

looks great. Did you buy a blank blade and fit the handles or just start with a big piece of steel?

it is a blank blade I am not confident enough yet to go with a total stock removal blade from a bar of steel yet.

the jantz kits are awesome. i mean where else can you spend $20 on something that you build yourself then use and abuse it and its ready for more?
BTW, Woodcraft at britton and may has some decent little kits locally with all the exotic wood as well as acrylic handle material to play with.

It is supposed to be 440C Stainless Steel...we will just have to see how it holds an edge.

The funnest thing was shaping the handle from the block of Dymondwood on the benchtop belt sander it was really cool watching it come to life before my eyes.

yep,every knife ends up different than you envisioned. the shape changes as you work it.
