Need help with Remington 798

I bought a custom Remington 798 from a co worker. The Remington 798 has a custom stainless fluted barrel and custom thumbhole stock. He said the rifle was in 22-250 in a mauser based action. I bought it then started researching it and found that Remington only made the 798 in .243 and up but the 799 could be in 22-250. The guy i bought it from said his dad was a big mauser guy and this was a custom build. I was wondering if this 798 could be made to accept the 22-250 and if anyone would know what this might be worth.

The barrel is a custom job, so it is most likely a 798 since the .22-250 case is the same head size as the .243 and .308. The 799 action is for the smaller .222/.223 sized rounds.
