NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Officials in New Orleans say they are imposing a dusk-to-dawn curfew as Hurricane Isaac continues to lash the city on the seventh anniversary of Katrina.
Police cars have been patrolling the nearly empty streets since Isaac began bringing fierce winds and heavy rains to the city Tuesday night. The curfew was set to start Wednesday night and would last until further notice.
Rescuers in boats and trucks plucked a handful of people who became stranded by floodwaters in thinly populated areas of southeast Louisiana. Authorities feared many more could need help after a night of slashing rain and fierce winds that knocked out power to more than 600,000 households and businesses.

Are they confiscating legally-owned firearms yet?

This should read "The streets are more dangerous than ever, while the most corrupt police force in the nation have been patrolling the nearly empty streets since Isaac began bringing fierce winds and heavy rains to the city Tuesday night.

Man-oh-man.....Katrina in Houston, same type of curfew. What was really weird, the 4th largest city in the U.S. and it was somewhat deserted. Reminded me of a zombie or end of the world movie...no-one in sight, very creepy.

Cops wouldn't come out if your house was broken into...call insurance company. No gas, no food, it sucked!!! Dusk to dawn curfew, pistol in my pocket everywhere I went.

Tropical storm Rita flooded the heck oit of Houston...what a pain in the @ss.

Hurricane Ike...almost as bad. It hit Galveston, but up in my area of Houston eleven days no electricty, food, gas....that sucked also.

Don't miss the hurricanes or tropical storms...miss the food and friends...not the storms.

A person never forgets the first time of seeing a casket floating in the Galveston cemetary. There's a reason they pour cement on top of the grave...sea level has a very shallow water table. Then when a storm floods the area...not only do the worms come up, but anything else that isn't bolted or cemented down!!!

Gotta call some buddies in Lake Charles and Cameron area to see if they are okay and not flooded out.

Just talked to a buddy of mine, his house is in the Treme, powers out but no flooding issues, he was down in the Quarter helping some friends board up some blown out windows. There's been some looting issues because a lot of businesses in the CBD area have had windows blown out by the sustained winds.

Plaquimine parish got hit hard but they always do.
