So when I go in to buy my first OK hunting license -
WHAT DO I NEED TO TAKE TO SHOW THAT I AM A RESIDENT ?
I have the paperwork showing I bought, w/ land description.
A water bill - but no electric bill yet since I am out on the HILLS........
I have just bought the land and still have a TX DL.....
But do not want to pay NR if I do not have to..........

Fill me in on the process.

THANKS

If you had an OK DL it would be simple. That is all that is required but if you go in with a TX DL they are not likely to do it. You might call your local game warden and ask him but it may complicate things. I think if you get an OK DL, you could buy your license on line and no one would ever think twice about it.

DL and a bunch of cash....with all the 'add-on' fees and tags that are required to hunt in this state you'd think it was a hunter's paradise or something.

Not that it's a bad place for hunting, but compared to other states with equal or better hunting opportunities they sure do like to tack on the extras.

I think if you compare Oklahoma to bordering states, the hunting prices are pretty low. A combo in Texas cost 75 not including all the stamps you need. Usually you end up paying around 100. And out of state in Texas is retarded expensive, which is why I bought a lifetime license before I changed to Oklahoma res. Pretty sure out of state hunting in TX is about 500, and OK is 270

Here is your answer:

Landowners or Tenants
Resident landowners or tenants who hunt only
on land owned or leased by them (not including
hunting leases) are exempt from the hunting
license. Resident landowners who hunt waterfowl
and other migratory game birds only on their
own property are exempt from the Oklahoma
waterfowl license and HIP requirements.
Only resident landowners or tenants or such
individual’s children who trap on land owned or
leased by such owner or tenant (not including
hunting leases) are exempt from purchasing a
trapping license.
Persons residing in another state who own
land in Oklahoma but do not live on that land are
considered nonresidents and are not exempt

Question for the OP - are you actually living on the land you bought, or are you actually living in Texas?

Before you answer that - you can have only one place for your domicile. If you choose Oklahoma, you will pay Oklahoma income tax. You will be able to register to vote here and get an OK driver's license. You can get an OK resident CCW. You will also pay for a non-res hunting license.

If you choose Texas, you will pay no state income tax, since Tx does not have an income tax, and you won't be an OK resident. You will vote in Tx. You can carry concealed here in OK on your Tx license, or any other license, res, or non-res.

All that is pretty easy. What's not easy is getting two res. hunting licenses in two states. That won't work.

What's your plan?
