"It is unfortunate that in the current emotionally charged atmosphere this celebratory event has become overshadowed by a decision that directly affected a small percentage of more than 1,000 exhibits showcasing products and services for those interested in hunting and fishing."

Sounds like they are whining about it too. Tough ****. Go fix your stupid or just go away.

Good news indeed. Lots of companies stepped up to boycott: Cabela's (already my favorite big box sporting goods chain  ), Ruger, S&W ...

In a very heartening development, many archery and traditional hunting companies, that don't have an immediate connection to selling or using modern rifles, also stepped up big time.

Now let's keep this advocacy and positive energy focused on our elected representatives in Congress and in the state capital.

Channel 9 ran a story about Tracy Gunn, who runs Dirty Buck Soap in Edmond (http://dirtybucksoap.com/); she'd already spent $10K for a booth at the show, but decided not to go after the promoters pulled that crap.
"I could still go to the show, but I would be in a big building all by myself and I would get a black eye from the hunting community," she said. "You stand with the people who support you and I stand with them all day long."

Besides being out $10K, Gunn says she probably would've made more than $50,000 at the 10-day long event.

Good for her. I hope the hunters will stand with her. I also heard in one of the reports that the firm running the show was British, so I guess we shouldn't be at all surprised at what they've done.

Edit: Yep; they're English, headquartered in Surrey, UK: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reed_Exhibitions No wonder they're tone deaf on this.

The management at Reed Exhibitions has to be total arse-hats! Hopefully whoever suggested such a moronic idea was fired. Pennsylvania is a huge outdoor and hunting state and suggesting banning ARs at the show means they had no idea about their customers. I travel to Pennsylvania from time to time and it's the only state in the Northeastern US that I would ever considering living.

Hopefully the people that manage the Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg PA will take action to cancel any Reed Exhibitions future contracts to host any events.

The NSSF may have the last laugh. The NSSF used Reed Exibitions to run the SHOT Show in Las Vegas this year. I'm certain that the contract for the next SHOT Show is under serious consideration.

http://www.pennlive.com/midstate/index.ssf/2013/01/eastern_sports_and_outdoor_sho_2.html

"The foundation owns SHOT Show, an annual firearm show that Reed managed earlier this month in Las Vegas. Because of its policy at the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show, the NSSF said it is "considering all options regarding the management of future SHOT Shows."
