Mathews Switchback, Muzzy Broadheads, Gold Tip Expedition Hunter Arrows. Blessing from the Good Lord, 140 pound doe...... YES 140 pound hanging BEFORE field dressing. She was a fatty.... Just like I like them!!!! LOL
I got a nice nanny doe at Waurika Sunday. My wife and I had both missed a buck there at different times, and she wanted to go try our luck with the crossbows instead of gun hunting our lease the last day of gun season. I was packing up to leave when I heard a bleat. I looked around and had 3 deer feeding toward me from upwind. This nanny, a button buck, and a doe fawn. I kneeled down and waited forever, it seemed, for them to work to where I could get a shot through the trees. At one time she was 10 yds. in front of me straight on. She could tell something was there, but couldn't figure it out. She was working her way around trying to get downwind, but stopped in an opening 15 yds from me and finally turned broadside. Man, that is the longest and closest I have had a deer work to me while being perfectly still and controlling my breathing. Usually my heart feels like it's going to beat right out of my chest and I can feel my pulse in my eyeballs. She was a nice mature doe 100 lbs. field dressed.
