Looking to have a barrel cut and re threaded. Anyone done this or have a gunsmith recommendation in the metro area?

you don't have to use a gunsmith, any machine shop can do it
I've had wormy results at a couple of machine shops just getting shafts (non-firearms related) made.

For an AR.... Honestly I would say just rebarrel it. Unless it's some super special barrel for an odball caliber that you have a ton of money in to it's too easy to just get the length you are wanting and swap them out. Sell the old one and recoup part of the cost. My guess is it will end up being cheaper than having someone cut the old one and less likely to have issues due to threading or crown being off.
With AR barrels under 50.00 bucks now I'd just get a new one
Yeah it'll cost about $100 to get it done so if its a cheap barrel, just sell it and get the one you want.
