12-year-old Girl Shoots Intruder During Home Invasion

A 12-year-old girl took matters into her own hands during a home invasion in southeast Oklahoma.

It happened on Wednesday when the girl was home alone. She told police a stranger rang the doorbell, then went around to the back door and kicked it in. She called her mom, Debra St. Clair, who told her to get the family gun, hide in a closet and call 911.

That was when St. Clair dropped what she doing and raced home.

"I drove home at a really fast pace to try to get to her, and when I got here the police were already here. And they had the suspect," she said.

The during that time, the intruder made his way through the house. St. Clair's daughter told deputies the man came into the room where she was hiding and began to open up the closet door. That was when the 12 year old had to make a life-saving decision.

"And what we understand right now, he was turning the doorknob when she fired through the door," said the Bryan County Undersheriff Ken Golden.

The bullet hit the intruder, who deputies identified as 32-year-old Stacey Jones. He took off but did not get far before officers took him down.

Police are trying to find a man they say brazenly ambushed and assaulted a 17-year-old girl in her west Tulsa home last week.

Tulsa Police said the man surprised the teen by hiding in her backyard.

It happened Friday afternoon, in the area of West 51st Street and 33rd West Avenue, when the girl was home sick from school.

Her dog was barking at the back door and she thought it wanted out.

When she opened the door, the suspect punched her in the face, knocking her backwards. The suspect continued to attack the victim, knocking her to the floor and striking her repeatedly. When the victim tried to crawl away, the suspect began striking her in the back of the head with a glass and she passed out.

Police said, when she woke up, the suspect was gone.

Her clothes and panties were ripped and there was evidence she'd been sexually assaulted.

"It could happen to any of us and we just need to be aware and be on the lookout," said Brenda Teehee, who lives nearby.

Some people in the neighborhood told police they remembered seeing the guy walking around, but no one knows him.

"We don't know if he had been targeting her or if he was looking to commit a burglary on an unoccupied residence, and when she opened the door, it's a target of opportunity," said Sergeant Mark Mears, with TPD's sex crimes unit.

Tulsa police have four suspects in custody they say forced their way into a home and held a man at gunpoint Sunday night.

Priscilla Sandoval, Matthew Sandoval and two juveniles were booked into the Tulsa Jail just before 2 a.m. Monday.

The four suspects forced their way into a home in the 4400 block of East Admiral Place and held a man at gunpoint, according to Officer Leland Ashley with the Tulsa Police Department.

"They asked for a female who no longer lives at that residence," Ashley said.

Priscilla Sandoval, 37, and Matthew Sandoval, 27, were accompanied by a 16-year-old girl and 17-year-old boy, according to police. The four got into a Mitsubishi Eclipse and drove away.

Police tried to stop the Eclipse at 4900 East Admiral. Instead of stopping, police say driver Priscilla Sandoval shut off the car's headlights and went northbound on Yale Avenue.

"During the pursuit, the listed subject nearly ran several vehicles off the road and nearly caused a collision by running a red light at Pine and Yale," the arresting officer said in his report.

Police say the Mitsubishi eventually wrecked at 2600 North Yale.

Tulsa Police are investigating the deaths of two people whose bodies were found inside a home in the 6900 block of East Newton Thursday night.

Police were dispatched to the house after getting a 911 call at about 11:55 p.m. on November 1, 2012. When officers arrived they found 20-year-old Devonta Dunn and an unidentified woman dead in the front room. Police say they appear to have died from gunshot wounds.

Police say there didn't appear to be any forced entry into the house but there are some signs of a struggle.

The pair were discovered by a relative of Dunn's. Family and friends of Dunn say they had been looking for him all day and hadn't been able to reach him by phone.

Tulsa Police do not believe this was a random crime and that the shooter or shooters were after Dunn. He was well known by detectives in the robbery, gang and narcotic units.

The woman is believed to have been an innocent victim.

California homeowner arrested after shooting alleged intruders

Authorities arrested a California homeowner after he shot two people who allegedly broke into his home Wednesday morning.

Jerry Rasmussen, 60, woke up sometime after 2 a.m. to find two intruders in his Fair Oaks home, according to FOX40. One of the intruders died, and the second suspect fled to a nearby hospital.

Sacramento County Sheriff's spokesman Jason Ramos said deputies arrived at the home around 2:30 a.m. and found the first suspect dead from a gunshot wound. Police later learned the second suspected intruder had gone to a local hospital seeking treatment for his wound, according to a report by News10.

Deputies said they arrested Rasmussen because he is an ex-felon in possession of a firearm, FOX40 reports. He was taken to Sacramento County Jail and is expected to appear in court Friday.

Police are further investigating the incident, but believe burglary was the motive.
