Not exactly. Speed vs. velocity is basic physics: speed is a scalar and velocity is a vector (as Paul put it in the video, a speed with a direction), so they are different, but the difference is really only important for physics. If you're calculating/computing the trajectory the difference matters (the forward velocity is a composite of horizontal and vertical velocities), but if you're shooting, not so much.

Technically, you do care about the difference because you want the bullet to be going towards the target, and not off in some random direction, but that's kind of an esoteric argument.
