Piedmont Police Chief Tom Linn has been charged with bribery and attempting to defraud the state following indictments from Oklahomas Multi-County Grand Jury.
Linn, who resigned as police chief on Monday, faces the charges from his time as police chief in Blanchard last year. Blanchard City Manager Bill Edwards is also facing charges and the indictment accuses both Linn and Edwards of offering to reinstate a fired police officer and provide him with back pay in exchange for political favors.
Earlier this week Piedmont City Manager Jim Crosby said Linn discussed some personal issues he was facing and felt it would be in the best interest of the city to resign. Crosby did not disclose the details of Linns personal problems but a city official with knowledge of the situation said Linn knew the indictment was coming and did not want to fight the charges as police chief.
