Narcan/Naloxone is an amazing drug. I've brought people back that had heart rates of below 40 and breathing a few times a minute. Along with the stats statistics the majority of them OD'd on drugs that were legally prescribed to them from a state licensed pusher. I saw a large number of dead from our state approved drugs, never saw one from the "devils weed".

Jeff Mizanskey has been in prison for more than twenty years.
Governor Jay Nixon has commuted the sentence of Jeff Mizanskey, a 61-year-old grandfather serving a life sentence for three non-violent marijuana convictions.
"The executive power to grant clemency is one I take with a great deal of consideration and seriousness," Nixon said in a press release announcing the commutation of Mizanskey's sentence. He also pardoned five other non-violent offenders.
Regarding Mizanskey, Nixon's remarks imply that he will be given a parole hearing:
"In the case of the commutation, my action provides Jeff Mizanskey with the opportunity to demonstrate that he deserves parole," Nixon said.
Riverfront Times broke the news that Mizanskey has been rotting in jail in a 2013 feature story that investigated the relatively minor (and non-violent) pot busts that preceded his 1993 arrest for being involved in the sale of a six to seven pounds of marijuana. Because it had been his third drug offense, Mizanskey was sentenced to life without parole under the state's Prior and Persistent Drug Offender statute, a law that was repealed last year.

Home prices have shot up by double-digits, inventory has fallen dramatically and multiple offers with bidding wars have become common.
One factor driving the demand: pot. The budding industry has impacted home prices since the state legalized marijuana in 2012.
"There has been a huge bump in real estate prices due to the legalization of marijuana," according to James Paine, managing partner at West Realty Advisors. "It's massively pushed up raw land and industry prices."
In March, Denver experienced the second-largest jump in annual home prices at 10%, just behind San Francisco, according to the S&P/Case-Shiller Home Price Index.

While the legalization of marijuana isn't the only thing driving the market, it has contributed to job growth in the area that has people flocking to Denver.
"The pot industry is creating jobs we didn't have before," said Kelly Moye, a Re/Max real estate agent who has worked in the Denver area for 24 years. "It's brand new, it adds a whole new factor to the area; you have real estate needs, housing needs, job needs."
The industry has created jobs beyond growers and dispensaries. Legal marijuana has also been a boon for existing businesses like security and HVAC companies who service the new "green" businesses. "Electricians have grown from mom and pops to big-time electric companies," said J.P. Speers, an agent at ‎Berkshire Hathaway Home Services.
Denver and its surrounding areas have also become a hot spot for the tech industry, adding to the job rush.
"It's fairly affordable, at least for now," said Moye. "The quality of life is great and employers are bringing their employees here."

But it's difficult to pinpoint exactly what enticed a person to move to the state. "A lot of them try to hide it," said Speers, who has worked with clients moving to the state because of legalization. "They don't necessarily say they are coming out to be part of the marijuana industry."
He said he helped find a rental unit for a mom coming from out of state to access medicinal marijuana for her daughter.

Rapper Rick Ross arrested for marijuana possession: official

Rapper Rick Ross was arrested on Wednesday in Georgia for marijuana possession, according to the Fayette County Sheriff's Office.
The 39-year-old Ross, whose legal name is William Leonard Roberts II, was pulled over at around 4 p.m. on Highway 279 in Georgia for a window tint violation, according to an official with the sheriff's office, who declined to be named.
Deputies went to his car, smelled marijuana, and after searching the vehicle placed Ross under arrest for possession, the officer said. As of 11 p.m., he was still in Fayette County Jail, the official said.
Fayette County is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area.

This world is really ridiculous sometimes. The science is out and the hype is being silenced with truth - yet here we are, arresting people for possession of a natural plant as it's still classified as a class one drug. There is no other single issue that exposes the corruption of our own government against its own people than the issue of marijuana.

The unanimous ruling against the federal government expands the definition of medical marijuana beyond the "dried" form.
The country's highest court found the current restriction to dried marijuana violates the right to liberty and security "in a manner that is arbitrary and hence is not in accord with the principles of fundamental justice."
Restricting medical access to marijuana to a dried form has now been declared "null and void" Sections 4 and 5 of the Controlled Drug and Substances Act, which prohibits possession and trafficking of non-dried forms of cannabis, will no longer be in effect.
The respondent in this case, Owen Smith, called it "a very emotional day."
"I'm proud and really happy today for all those people who are going to benefit from this ruling," he said at a press conference in Victoria, B.C.
The decision upholds earlier rulings by lower courts in British Columbia that said they went against a person's right to consume medical marijuana in the form they choose.
Many users felt smoking it was even potentially harmful. However, methods such as brewing marijuana leaves in tea or baking cannabis into brownies left patients vulnerable to being charged with possession and trafficking under the law.

It would be rather idiotic to say you can only ingest it via smoking the plant as every other method is inexplicably healthier(oils, teas, foods, topical rubs, etc.)
All forms of marijuana should be legal and anyone doing time for minor offenses related to the stuff should be released. Look at what it did to Colorado's economy in only a year.
