Why is my ar 15 grip screw not going in all of the way? This is my first ar. It came out just fine, but when I was trying to install the new grip the screw only goes in a little then Hits a hard wall and won't go in any further.

Anderson lower? There was a run that had a shallow hole for the grip screw. I had to trim a couple down to get them to snug up. Probably about 3-4 years ago.

you left off the lock washer. so now it's got 1/16 inch of play?

Pull the grip off and see how far the bare grip screw will go in the lower receiver. . If it goes in far enough, the issue is that the screw is trying to cross-thread. DO NOT FORCE IT. These can be tricky to line up on some combinations of grip/lower.

Pull the grip off and see how far the bare grip screw will go in the lower receiver. . If it goes in far enough, the issue is that the screw is trying to cross-thread. DO NOT FORCE IT. These can be tricky to line up on some combinations of grip/lower.

I tried with the grip off, it still goes about the same distance, it's a PSA lower and a Magpul MOE grip

I can only twist it a half turn then I feel resistance
