My wife and I went to the NRA banquet last night and I ended up winning a Ruger 10/22 Takedown. I have seen them in the net but never had my hands on one. Its pretty neat how it goes together and can't wait to shoot it. Has anyone else shot one and whats your thoughts on it?
I shot one that belonged to my uncle. My opinion is that is is a fine gun for the purpose, which to me is a camp/truck gun. Perfect for iron sight shooting.
The design doesn't seem to be the best for shooting with a scope, but he had one mounted and honestly it was fine. I broke it down, and put it back... and the damned thing didn't seem to lose zero by much if at all.

I have fallen head over heels for mine. I've got somewhere around 3k through her, and she hasn't missed a beat. Probably the best 10/22 made, I have several. I put an aim point on her for use at Steel Challenge matches, and she shines! Get yourself 3 or 4 of Rugers 25rd magazines, and have fun!!!!!!!! I also got the little SR22 pistol, both together are a match made in heaven!!
