That's a fair price. The 3" has the advantage of the ejector being long enough to fully eject the brass. The shorter barreled snubbys are not long enough.
The 36 won't be recessed. Only the magnums and rimfires were. All the old 38 specials were pinned but not recessed.
There are some transitional guns like a fine model 27 that glocktogo has that have recessed cylinders but no pin. Circa 1982 was when the P&R was stopped.
