I got some more information on it. As others have said it is a Model 24. There is no serial number. It is 22LR over 410 (3”). It has Patent number 2259397 on the receiver. It also has “28C” in a circle on the left side of the receiver.

I guess the guy needed some money. I told him I would get with him when I got back to town, but he called me before I could leave and gave me a price. I bought it. Finish is rough but the barrels both look good on the inside. I don't know what that finish on the receiver is called. It is tight - no rattles. I don't know how to figure out what the choke is. The mouth of the barrel measures .375. The barrels are 24 inches long. It is missing the little part that slides in the rear sight for vertical adjustment.
That does look nice. What kind of finish did you use on it?I redid the wood on my 24S-C which is a 22LR/20 Gauge I. It was pretty beat and darn if it didn’t turn out kinda pretty View attachment 380428View attachment 380429View attachment 380430View attachment 380432
Why thanks. I stripped it with Citristrip, sanded it to 360 grit, can’t remember the stain color and put 12 coats of BLO (boiled linseed oil). That does look nice. What kind of finish did you use on it?
