For my opinion, solar would only be valuable as a backup. That said, unless the costs have come down considerably, a generator might be more of a benefit.

OK. Now that I've done the serious answer, comes this:

Perhaps when someone is signing up for OSA's forums, they should have to prove they have a sense of humor.

Can you be a little more specific with what you are wanting to know? Maybe what you are wanting to ultimately accomplish? I could write a novel about alternative power. I can say. The cost of solar panels has dropped dramatically. Still the average family requires too much demand to really be able to use them to "go off the grid" For remote locations, supplemental power or for a emergency backup they are very useful
