I was just trying to keep the small amount of water in the skimmers thawed but it seems to be doing OK at this point on it’s own. I will definitely winterize it next year but at this point we just gotta ride it out.

Why do you have your pool skimmers with water in them? Do you have a heater so you can swim year around?
Our pool installer told us to drain the pool annually in the fall to 12" below the skimmers, then install the cover we have done religiously.
By spring, the pool is almost full again from rainfall which is good water for a pool so we just add what is needed while running the pool vac..
