Possibly but I would think any bystandards would have fled when they saw the bad guy holding a shotgun to his head. I wouldnt have stayed around to watch that.

I'm sure he had grabbed the end of the shotty and had control of its direction in order to avoid being decapitated while he drew his pistol and yes, I think I could have gotten off 3-4 shots and he wouldnt have ran away.
