Trump is simultaneously deploying federal officers to fight socialism while he works to create it at the same time.

$800M government “loan” to Kodak to create a pharmaceutical division? That’s some free market capitalism for you, not!
Maybe, but I'd far rather get my medications from an American company than China or India or even Mexico.

So giving out a loan to a corporation is socialism............. So you are saying that Kodak is now run by the US Government.
Does loan now mean that the taxpayer owns Kodak........ Are loan and bought or take over inter changeable words or phases now?

Let me add to this , China just threatened to take our supply of meds away if we did not stop calling them out for hiding CV-19. If loaning a company, Danka, shuts down that threat and they take away that market from China then so be it. But do not call is socialism.
Do not care for a lot of who Trump is but he is trying to strengthen America. I understand and acknowledge your right, @SMS, to dislike Trump but please leave the fake news to the MSM.

That's the same thing they said in 2016. The choice is simple, will you want someone like Biden, heck he don't even know what he is running for. I think not.

What if that's the plan all along? Democrats are also benefiting from the Trump presidency, as divested as they are... Perhaps they've put up Biden in an attempt to continue the status quo without losing base....

I remember when conservatives and/or republicans at least pretended to be against corporate welfare. Now they openly embrace it and throw their own money at it. Spare me the strict definition of socialism, my over the top comparison was to make a point.

If Kodak was properly postured in the pharmaceutical industry and able to produce the needed products, they would/should have zero trouble securing a commercial loan to fire up that division.

Are there no American pharmaceutical companies that could do the job? Why was a failed and poorly managed film company chosen for this golden gift that won’t bear fruit until years down the road? Are there conditions on the loan? Do they have to keep prices low since the American taxpayers will essentially foot the bill for this? (Price setting, indirect control of production anyone?)

Why is the government picking winners?

All this money printing and quantitative easing is going to leave one hell of a bill to pay down the road. That weakens America, not strengthens it.

I’m not against it “because Trump”, I’m against it because it’s not sound economics. It sure as hell isn’t capitalism or free market. That’s not fake news either. A whole lotta folks sure are for it “because Trump”.

It depends on the business receiving the welfare though, along political lines. In Oklahoma, that $400million tax credit for oil and gas was welcomed and cheered for, at the same time, those same people spent their year complaining that wind energy doesn't deserve their $133million same/same.

I am not for" it". I am against calling it something "it" is not. If you are against .Gov loaning money to a company so be it and I agree for the most part . Just do not call it socialism. Socialism is .Gov taking over the company and making it public property.
Trump is trying to get American interest back on American soil, you can agree with him or not but to say he is fighting socialism on one hand and supporting it on another is not being "over the top" it is comparing apple to oranges.

Similes are hard. I get it. It’s supposed to enhance the point, not distract from it lol.

Sustainable economic growth involves people who are good at building and managing stuff building and managing stuff that people want. I have yet to see how, with all the existing pharmaceutical companies already operating on American soil, a failed photo company fits that bill to “save” the American drug industry. It’s even harder to see how we had to give them almost $800M that WE DON’T HAVE to help them do it.

The same people cheering this probably bitched about Solyndra and other Obama era handouts. Those were bad decisions too, but at least they were actually making the stuff we tried to pay them for lol.

It’s simply astonishing.

Actually, The only thing Solyndra produced was a federal level superfund clean up site and a half a billion bucks to some of Barry’s buds.

I need to start hanging around better connected folks I suppose...

True.

Looking at Kodak’s stock price and volume leading up to the announcement, we really need some better connections lol.
