I'm my own Santa Claus,,,
And I was very good to myself this year.
I had a bit over a Grand saved up for the Wannenmacher's Show in Tulsa,,,
I was looking for one specific rifle but had no luck finding one,,,
So I decided to just throw good sense to the wind,,,
And spend that grand on other guns.
I had originally wanted a KKW rimfire trainer to match my K98 Mauser,,,
But there were none to be had so I decided to go a different way.
I found a nice civilian Mauser ES340B on GunBroker,,,
It's the exact (well really close) gun as the KKW,,,
But with a sporter stock instead of military,,,
It will arrive at my LGS this Wednesday.
I wanted a .22 handgun to pair up with a Savage Mk-IIF rifle,,,
The gun I chose was a Rossi R98 Plinker revolver,,,
I've been looking for one for over 6 months.
Since I couldn't find one I chose a Ruger Mk-III Standard instead,,,
It arrived a few days before my Christmas vacation started,,,
I usually pair semi's with semi's but this is still a nice duo.
A friend had a Charter Arms .38 Undercover that she bought new,,,
Unfortunately she never liked the gun very much,,,
She couldn't hit anything with it.
She found a Taurus 9mm that she liked a lot better,,,
Since I wanted a revolver just like hers to pair with my Charter Arms Pathfinder,,,
I found the Taurus she liked, bought it new on sale, and promptly traded for her gun straight across.
Then, as the fates would have it,,,
I was notified that Buds had the Rossi R98 back in stock,,,
So I moved the Ruger Mk-III into the case with my Mossberg 702 Plinkster.
The Rossi R98 should hit my LGS before the New Year,,,
My Mossie has a proper semi-auto companion,,,
And my Savage has a proper revolver mate.
But I'm a single man so I'll do without my morning treat,,,
I can make my own morning coffee for a month and make it all up.
So yes,,,
Santa was very good to me this year.
