Your in Lawton. The OKC news paper posted a big report of a breeding population on the Wichita Mtns refuge years ago. The ODW has an active web page of cougars that have been verified in this state.
We have them, but mostly young males that are hunting for new territory. The cougar that was killed south of Ponca City by a train had a radio collar on it from South Dakota.

When a couple cats got hit by a car (and also a train too if I remember right) they kind of had to step off their company line LOL
There was a verified kill in Kay County back in the 70's. The state hired a lion hunter from Colorado with dogs to track it down after killing a lot of sheep, and he was successful killing it very near the Kay county Game wardens home North of Lake Ponca. It had an injured paw that probably contributed to killing the domestic animals.
We live on the Arkansas river that originates in Colorado so animals not indigenous to OK sometimes follow the river and appear here.
